The Role
Abby Care is seeking an experienced, visionary, and operationally-minded Head of Clinical Operations. In this role you will lead and scale our clinical department during a period of significant growth. This is a Full-Time Remote position based in the United States, with 30% requirements to travel to San Francisco headquarters and our offices in each state that we have clinical operations. This role will report into our Chief Operating Officer.
The Head of Clinical Operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical operations and quality for our predominantly RN-heavy clinical teams across multiple markets. This leader will ensure clinical excellence, robust clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and a patient-centered approach, while championing scalable processes, a data oriented approach and the effective integration of technology to support our rapid expansion.
Key Responsibilities
As a senior clinical leader at Abby Care, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling our care model for children and families with special needs and chronic illnesses in a paid family caregiving model. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across multiple markets.
Clinical Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and lead a clinical strategy aligned with Abby Care’s mission
- Oversee RN clinical services and ensure consistent quality across new and existing markets
- Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Operational Excellence & Scaling
- Design and implement scalable workflows, processes, and tools to support rapid growth
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Analytics, Product, Engineering) to optimize and automate clinical operations
- Define and track key performance metrics to drive efficiency and quality of care
Quality & Compliance
- Monitor clinical quality indicators to ensure outstanding patient outcomes
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer regulations across markets
- Lead quality improvement and clinical risk management initiatives
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing clinical team across markets.
- Develop standardized training and professional development programs to ensure quality and high productivity
- Create a supportive environment that promotes staff engagement and reduces turnover
Technology Integration & Enablement
- Champion the effective use of clinical technology (e.g., EMRs, dashboards, alerting systems, etc)
- Collaborate with product teams to shape tools that enhance efficiency and patient care
- Use clinical data to uncover insights and improve operations
Cross-Functional Impact
- Serve as a key clinical partner to executive leadership and central teams
- Represent clinical operations in discussions with payers, regulators, and partners
- Support business development efforts by showcasing Abby Care’s clinical model and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Must have a clinical degree and professional license, including but not limited to, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master's degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Doctor of Medicine (MD), or related field.
- Licensure: Hold an active RN/MD license in CO, PA, IN, FL, or MA, a compact license, or must be willing to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive nursing, medical, or clinical care experience, including 5–7 years in senior leadership overseeing large, multi-state or geographically dispersed clinical teams
- Strong preference for home health experience, or leadership in a similar multi-site healthcare services setting
- Proven success building and scaling clinical operations in a tech-enabled, high-growth healthcare organization
- Deep knowledge of home health regulations, compliance standards, and reimbursement models (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial)
- Demonstrated ability to lead clinical quality improvement efforts and drive strong patient outcomes
- Proficient with health technology platforms (EHR/EMR, clinical analytics) and experienced in using data and technology to improve care and operational performance
