About Abby Care

Making family care possible. At Abby Care, we are tackling one of the most important and unsolved challenges of our time: family caregiving.

Over 50 million Americans are family caregivers for loved ones without pay, tools, or support. Our mission is clear and ambitious: to train and employ family caregivers so they can get paid for the care they already provide at home.

Abby Care is building a tech-powered, family-first care platform to efficiently deliver care, improve health outcomes, and provide the best-in-class experience nationwide.

We are rapidly expanding our mission and looking for passionate team members to join. Abby Care has partnered with leading insurance plans, healthcare providers, and community organizations. We’re supported by top, mission-driven VCs to empower families throughout the country.

The Role:

At Abby Care our people are the core of our success, which is why we are seeking a strategic and high-impact People Business Partner Lead to join us as our first dedicated PBP hire. Reporting directly to the Head of People, you will function as a critical advisor to our key leaders and executives, helping them build, lead, and scale their organizations with a "family-first" mindset.

This is a unique builder role designed for someone who thrives in the gray area of a high-growth startup. You will start as an individual contributor, deeply embedded in our business units to drive performance and culture. Initially, you will also take the helm of our Talent Development and L&D initiatives, architecting the programs that will grow our people as quickly as we grow our business.

Equally comfortable driving programmatic growth as an individual contributor, you are excited about eventually building and managing a team of PBPs as we continue our nationwide expansion. If you are excited about the opportunity to write the playbook and shape how we think about developing our people and our teams at scale, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to key leaders and executives, providing coaching on organizational design, workforce planning, and complex employee relations.

  • Talent Development & L&D Leadership: Design and lead our initial talent development strategy. This includes creating manager training, performance management cycles, and career growth frameworks that align with Abby Care’s values.

  • Culture & Engagement: Partner with leadership to pulse-check organizational health

  • and implement initiatives that maintain our mission-driven culture during hypergrowth.

  • Organizational Design: Help leaders structure their teams for scale, identifying talent gaps and ensuring we have the right people in the right roles to meet our ambitious goals.

  • Change Management: Act as a lead for major organizational changes, ensuring clear communication and empathy are at the forefront of every transition.

  • People Analytics: Partner with Business Analytics to use data-driven insights to influence people's decisions and improve retention and performance.

  • Future Leadership: Build the foundation for the PBP function at Abby Care.

The Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive HR/People experience, with at least 4+ years in a Business Partner capacity supporting executives or senior leaders.

  • Talent Development Expertise: Proven track record of designing and executing talent development programs from scratch in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strategic Mindset: You can zoom out to think about the long-term health of the organization but are equally comfortable "rolling up your sleeves" to solve immediate tactical challenges.

  • Mission-Driven: You are deeply aligned with our mission to empower family caregivers and bring empathy to every interaction.

  • Operational Agility: You thrive in a "manual and messy" environment and enjoy the process of moving toward "structured and scalable."

  • Communication: Exceptional communication and coaching skills. You can deliver tough feedback with kindness and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Modern Tech Stack Fluency: Highly proficient in Slack and Google Workspace. You prefer agile, digital workflows over static files.

AI Fluency: Comfortable using AI tools to work smarter and be a part of reimaging the role of the people business partner utilizing AI BP agents.

Our Values:

  1. Families First
Redefining healthcare starts with how we treat the parents and children we serve. We go above and beyond for every family, building strong, lasting relationships. We continually ask ourselves, “Would we want this for our own families?”

  2. Urgency with Precision
Millions of families are waiting for care, and they cannot wait, therefore this is not your typical 9 to 5 job. We match their urgency with our own, delivering exceptional care without compromise. Here, speed and excellence go hand in hand.

  3. Relentlessly Resourceful
As an ambitious startup, we adapt quickly and make the most of limited time and resources. We solve challenges with creativity to deliver results without unnecessary complexity.

  4. Purpose with Positivity
We take our mission seriously while never losing sight of the people behind the work. Respect, kindness, memes, and coffee make us stronger as a team and better for the families we serve.

  5. Driven to Redefine What’s Possible
We are here to make healthcare better, which means asking hard questions, challenging outdated systems, and finding smarter, more compassionate ways to deliver care.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work – full-time employees are eligible for an annual company performance bonus.

  • Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. We cover 90% of your premiums and 70% for your dependents, with multiple PPO plan options to choose from for medical, vision, dental, life, and short-term disability.

  • Generous paid time off. We provide policies that allow you to recharge along with 10 paid company holidays.

  • Team bonding. We love bringing our teams together. As a full-time employee, you’ll get to connect, collaborate, and have fun through team activities and our annual company retreat.
