The Team You’ll Work With
Carta’s London and Denmark locations are a product of our 2022 acquisition of Capdesk and Vauban, both companies having a goal to close the equity gap across the U.K. and Europe . Now operating as one global Carta entity, our London and Denmark locations will work to enhance the cap table, valuation and fund administration product suitesCarta Venture Capital product suite with Capdesk and Vauban as proprietary products. You’ll be joining our Capdesk Valuations team (located in London) as a Financial Reporting Lead. Capdesk currently has a small, but powerful valuations team delivering EMI, CSOP, growth share and 409A valuations to companies in the UK and other geographies. The equity data and company valuations produced together can help companies produce IFRS- and GAAP- compliant financial reporting. This is where you enter the picture. We currently have maturing technology in both Carta and Capdesk platforms to generate compliant expense reports. We want to take this further.
The Problems You’ll Solve
As Financial Reporting Lead, you will work within the Capdesk Valuations team alongside our valuation experts, reporting to the Director of Delivery, and your top objectives will be:
- Act as our in-house expert on IFRS and share-based payments, answering complex and unique questions and providing clear guidance to Carta staff and customers
- Be a point of reference for Product, Support and CS in answering financial reporting related questions from customers
- Work with our Product and Engineering teams to help shape the product roadmap for building out our financial reporting product capabilities
- Work with our Delivery team to help shape the CX and service roadmap for building out our financial reporting service capabilities
- Work with our Valuations team to ensure coherence and synergy in the evolution of our financial reporting and Valuations product and services
- Join customer calls alongside Sales and Customer Success to help win new business or upsell by promoting our existing and emerging financial reporting products and services
- Help making financial reporting work for every company’s unique situation, customize reports and settings to comply with the needs of our clients and applicable accounting standards, deliver financial reports and expert financial reporting advice directly to customers and as necessary, partner with their auditors
- Gather insights from market, customers, auditors and feedback continuously to our financial reporting strategy
- Create content to establish Capdesk financial reporting as a trusted, reliable, and auditable source within the industry
- Be a trusted partner to senior management on the ongoing development of the financial reporting business track and ultimately, own its success
The role will require technical expertise, an entrepreneurial and senior approach, and be highly diverse in terms of day-day activities. You will create and evolve products, services and processes. You will develop reference documentation and contribute to Marketing/Sales enablement material and internal training. You will initiate and manage projects and share insights.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred or equivalent qualified, with 2+ years PQE (UK focused)
- Bonus points for: CPA/CEP/AECA or equivalent (US focused)
- 5+ years of relevant experience recommended in preparing and analyzing financial statements under IFRS, GAAP, or other relevant accounting standards
- Bonus points for: Customer-facing delivery experience, experience in different industries, experience with multinational companies, experience of IFRS 2 within, or as an auditor of, late stage private technology companies would be beneficial, familiarity with working in a product organization is a plus
- Deep understanding of both IFRS2 and UK GAAP. Well-versed in the differences between the two sets of standards and know when to apply each based on the company's reporting requirements
- Excel Proficient - Daily use of Excel to work with very large and complex data sets and calculations is expected. A strong candidate will have the ability to create completely custom reports including but not limited to Share-Based Payments. Experience reading, comprehending, and applying technical accounting guidance to real-world circumstances is essential.
- Analytical and detail oriented - Strong candidates will be able to interpret and troubleshoot complex financial and equity data and processes.
- Communication & collaboration - Essential for working with customers, partners and cross-functionally with Product/Delivery
- Continuous learning- Commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated with the latest changes in accounting standards
