The Problems You'll Solve

As a Business Development Associate on the Fund Administration Business Development (FA BD) team, you will support a team working to expand Carta’s distribution and market share. The FA BD team accomplishes this by helping us deepen working relationships with key partners—and developing relationships with new ones in the Venture Capital & Private Equity ecosystem. You will support these efforts by:
- Create and lead a process to screen all sponsorship requests with venture capital partners, industry partners, and other ecosystem leaders
- Prepare analysis of team performance metrics, including familiarity with and use of databases including Salesforce, Airtable, Looker, and Google Sheets
- Quarterback FA BD work using various marketing platforms, including Stensul and Marketo
- Project manage team tasks, including for example:
- Managing the team quarterly newsletter process by working cross-functionally with Product, Product Marketing, Marketing, Sales Enablement, and other teams;
- Updating internal team trackers
- Update and maintain team and company CRMs, including Salesforce, Airtable, and Google Sheets
- Support FA BD hosted events and sponsorships by coordinating cross-functionally with Sales, working with finance teams and payment platforms such as Zip, aligning with marketing and setting up registration pages, creating and uploading campaigns into Salesforce, and managing a follow-up process
- Coordinate and work alongside our sales team to activate mutual books of business with law firms
- Lead discovery on additional paths for Carta to add value to our partners to drive new business to Carta
- Create awareness of Carta’s fund and investor tools for venture capital and private equity funds
- Represent Carta in the field, meeting with current and prospective partners and attending industry events on Carta’s behalf (up to 25% travel)
The Team You'll Work With
You’ll be joining our Business Development team. The Business Development Associate will support the BD team in its efforts in-market and advance the company’s efforts to grow its network, deepen existing relationships, and develop additional business opportunities with ecosystem partners for venture capital and private equity funds. The Business Development team works cross-functionally to drive ecosystem partnerships to accelerate our growing business. Ideal candidates will be energized by providing strong organizational support to the team, finding efficient and scalable processes to consolidate our workflows, driving cross-functional collaboration, digging into data, and providing the team leverage.

Qualifications
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and networking skills, with experience leading meetings with cross-functional teams
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models
- Relevant Business Development/Partnerships or other industry experience
Nice-to-Have
- Knowledge of Venture Capital/Private Equity funds and the broader industry
- Relevant network of contacts within the Venture Capital/Private Equity community
- Prior experience supporting back office functions at a venture capital or private equity fund
- Prior experience managing relationships with high-profile ecosystem partners
- Understanding of fund formation, regulations that apply to funds, fund administration, audits, or valuation services.
Salary
Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:
- $115,000 in San Francisco, CA
- $115,000 in New York, NY
- $110,000 in Seattle, WA
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
