About the role

As the Founding Recruiter at Console, you’ll be responsible for building our recruiting function from the ground up and partnering closely with the founders to shape the team that builds our product and company.

You’ll work directly with the CEO, CTO, and leadership team to define hiring priorities, set a high talent bar, and design hiring processes that scale as the company grows. From day one, you’ll own the full recruiting lifecycle — sourcing, interviewing, closing, and candidate experience — while building the infrastructure and systems that enable fast, high-quality hiring.

This role is highly hands-on and strategic. You’ll help founders make thoughtful decisions about when to hire, who to hire, and how to build teams that compound over time. Your success will be measured by the quality of hires, speed of execution, and the strength of the recruiting foundation you build.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We work in-person and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

About you

  • You’re a recruiter who thrives in early-stage environments and wants to build, not inherit, a recruiting function.

  • You have strong judgment and taste for talent — you know how to assess signal, calibrate with founders, and maintain a consistently high bar.

  • You’re hands-on and execution-oriented. You’re comfortable sourcing and engaging candidates directly, running interviews, and closing candidates in competitive markets.

  • You’re a trusted partner to founders and hiring managers, able to challenge assumptions, give clear advice, and influence decisions with empathy and data.

  • You care deeply about candidate experience and understand that great hiring reflects the values and quality of the company itself.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of recruiting experience, ideally including early-stage startups or zero-to-one environments

  • Proven experience hiring high-caliber technical, product, or design talent in competitive markets

  • Strong outbound sourcing skills and comfort owning full-cycle recruiting

  • Experience building recruiting processes, interview loops, and evaluation frameworks from scratch

  • Ability to operate with high autonomy, ambiguity, and rapidly changing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
