About the Role
Join our dynamic Finance team as an Accountant, where you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for various core accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, monthly close processes, and account reconciliations, while also contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This role demands a high level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within the team.
As an Accountant, you will:
- Manage the preparation and issuance of customer invoices and statements, ensuring accurate and timely application of customer payments in our accounting software.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of accurate customer records within the accounting system.
- Process vendor invoices for approval, track payment statuses, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records in the accounting system.
- Prepare and analyze various weekly reports, such as accounts receivable and accounts payable aging schedules, providing insights to the Controller.
- Perform detailed monthly bank reconciliations and other critical account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement within assigned responsibilities and contribute to a more efficient workflow.
- Actively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and accuracy of financial statements.
- Prepare and post accurate adjusting journal entries in the accounting software in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist the Controller with the preparation and filing of monthly sales tax returns.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of organized and efficient record-keeping procedures within the Finance team.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members, providing support and sharing knowledge to achieve team objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
- 3-4 years of progressive work experience in an accounting role, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use complex formulas and functions for data analysis.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in all tasks.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Excellent active listening and clear communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with colleagues.
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to identifying and resolving accounting issues.
- Possesses and demonstrates sound business judgment and maintains objectivity in financial matters.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Maintains a high level of ethical conduct, professionalism, and adherence to company policies.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to evolving priorities and constructive feedback.
- Handles professional disagreements and conflicts constructively and effectively.
