About the Role

We are a fast-moving team on a mission to transform the trading card industry through technology and automation. Backed by Fanatics—the global leader in licensed sports merchandise with exclusive partnerships across the MLB, NFL, and NBA—we combine the agility of a startup with the resources and reach of a major enterprise. As a Software Application Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable databases and backend systems that support our automated machinery and management platforms. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our manufacturing process, helping us modernize how trading cards are made and delivered to millions of fans worldwide.

Ideal experience: strong background in developing databases, back-end software, and APIs to connect automated machinery to databases and management platforms.

If you're excited about building systems from the ground up and contributing to a next-generation manufacturing tech stack, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable databases to support automated machinery and management platforms.
  • Back-End Software Engineering: Create and enhance back-end software solutions that integrate with automated machinery, ensuring data integrity and seamless operation.
  • API Development: Develop and manage APIs to facilitate communication between automated machinery, databases, and management platforms.
  • System Integration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of various systems and platforms.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database, software, and API-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database structures, software code, APIs, and system integrations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in database development, back-end software engineering, and API development, preferably in an industrial or automated machinery context.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and other database technologies; strong programming skills in languages such as Python experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Automated Systems: Familiarity with industrial automation systems and related technologies.
