Technical Project Manager - SOX Compliance
Job Description
About the role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Technical Project Manager to join our Product Management and Technology organization. This individual will play a critical role in driving delivery excellence across the organization, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with internal controls such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project operations, stakeholder engagement, process documentation, and change management—along with a forward-thinking mindset toward emerging technologies such as AI. This role is instrumental in delivering quality products and services, reducing operational risk, and driving clarity for all stakeholders involved in program and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee scalable program and project management frameworks for both the Backend and Frontend Product Management organization and broader Technology team, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance. Programs typically involve overseeing multiple teams, projects, and initiatives, while projects—regardless of size—are focused on delivering a single outcome and may still span several teams.
- Establish and enforce processes that align with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Collaborate with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) stakeholders to ensure accurate documentation, traceability, and audit readiness.
- Facilitate regular meetings, manage cross-functional communications, and coordinate with key stakeholders (Finance, GRC, SOX, Product, Engineering, InfoSec, Privacy, Architecture) to address escalations, exceptions, and alignment gaps.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve documentation—including workflows, approvals, and artifacts—based on evolving inputs, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder feedback.
- Partner with Technology leaders to evaluate and embed Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into existing processes, approvals, and audit mechanisms to drive automation, intelligence, and compliance.
- Act as a key point of contact for mock and formal audits. Provide historical and current documentation, ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks, and guide teams in remediation or clarification efforts.
- Assist in onboarding new team members by providing training on key processes, tools, and governance requirements. Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of process changes across teams.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to define and align on shared processes, governance requirements, and engagement models.
- Facilitate decision-making and consensus-building among cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and ensure clear next steps.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in Project Management, Project Operations, or related roles within a technology or product-focused organization.
- Strong understanding of SOX compliance and internal controls within a tech environment.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Experience working with third-party vendors to define and operationalize processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex documentation and governance workflows.
- Experience onboarding and training team members on new processes and tools.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other software development methodologies.
- Exposure to or experience with AI/ML technologies in enterprise settings is a plus.
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certification is a plus.
- Previous experience working with internal or external auditors is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work in ambiguity, operate autonomously, and make decisions quickly while engaging the right stakeholders and leaders as needed.
- Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Slack, Jira, Confluence, and AirTable.
- Proficiency in document management platforms such as SharePoint, Box, and OneDrive.
- Understanding of data governance, InfoSec, and privacy best practices.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to distill complex technical processes into clear and concise documentation.
