Overview

Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG) is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. This role will sit in either our Runtime/Compute or the Developer Experience/CICD squad.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, and internal developer tooling. You will work closely with Product Engineering, Security, Infrastructure IT, and other platform teams to build, enhance, and support our developer platform. You will help define standards and best practices, and act as a force multiplier for engineering teams by improving reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and deliver medium-to-large platform projects from implementation through production
  • Build and maintain internal platform services and tooling that improve developer experience and delivery velocity
  • Partner with application teams to unblock delivery and align platform capabilities with developer needs
  • Drive cloud cost efficiency and optimization across our cloud and infrastructure
  • Improve operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident response
  • Help evolve CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-based workflows
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
What You Bring
  • 5–7 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering
  • Proficiency with Python and Java. Familiarity with Kotlin, Go a plus
  • Deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge
  • Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform)
  • Strong AWS and cloud-native experience
  • Experience operating distributed, high-availability systems
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver defined projects independently
  • Clear communication and strong collaboration skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree, or professional certification, or a combination of education and experience
Nice to Have
  • Experience with internal developer platforms or tooling
  • Exposure to regulated or high-availability environments
  • Backend development experience (Java, Python, Go, or similar)
  • Familiarity with observability and reliability engineering practices
Working Across Regions

This role works closely with engineering teams across multiple regions. Success requires clear communication, effective collaboration, and comfort working with distributed teams.

Travel Expectations

This role includes occasional domestic travel and periodic travel for team offsites, planning sessions, or cross-team collaboration.

The expected salary range for this role is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for the Fanatics Betting and Gaming annual bonus program and an equity award. *Salary range is listed in USD; actual salary will vary based on location. *Salary Range: $121,000 - $160,000 per year (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location). In addition to base salary, bonus, and equity, full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid time off, and other benefits like GymPass, Pet Insurance, Family Care Benefits, and more. Remote employee may also be eligible for a home office setup stipend.
