The Role
Fanatics Corproate is seeking an experienced, business-minded, and highly-motivated Commercial Counsel to join our Legal Affairs team on a six-month contract basis. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Commercial Transactions, this role will support a broad range of commercial and technology-related transactions during a period of exciting growth for the entire company. There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to transition into a full-time employee after the expiration of the contract term.
The Legal team at Fanatics Corproate is a key strategic partner to all businesses within the organization, including C-Suite and all executive functions. The successful candidate will work closely with both internal and cross-functional stakeholders to facilitate commercial activity while managing legal and regulatory risk in a very fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor/supplier, consultant, and service agreements.
- Lead and support technology and software-related transactions, including SaaS agreements, software license agreements, technology services agreements, and data processing agreements.
- Advise internal stakeholders on key contractual provisions, including intellectual property ownership, licensing rights, and related risk allocation.
- Partner with Procurement, Events, Media, Advertising, Privacy, Marketing, and Operations teams to provide timely and appropriate legal counsel.
- Identify legal and commercial risks and recommend solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Assist in refining contract templates, negotiation guidelines, and internal processes to support operational efficiency and scalability.
- Manage a high volume of matters with appropriate prioritization and escalation of complex issues.
What We're Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant legal experience, preferably including experience at a law firm and in-house legal department.
- Broad experience in negotiating, drafting, and counseling on commercial agreements including, without limitation, technology transactions, software licensing matters (including SaaS).
- Knowledge of intellectual property licensing principles and risk allocation in commercial contracts.
- Familiarity with data privacy and data security considerations preferred.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters effectively in a very fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
The annualized salary range for this position is $198,000–$229,000, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
