About the Company

General Matter enriches uranium.

We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.

In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.

Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.

Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.

We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.

Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.

We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.

Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.

About This Role

As a General Matter Supply Chain Manager, you will own procurement and supply chain operations end-to-end. You’ll build vendor relationships, source components, negotiate pricing and contracts, manage materials availability, and design lightweight but scalable processes. You’ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and finance to keep development and production on track.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands-on—comfortable optimizing cost structures one hour and chasing down a late component the next.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing (Primary Focus)
  • Source and qualify suppliers for mechanical, electrical, and specialty hardware components.
  • Lead RFQs, negotiate pricing/terms, and drive cost-down initiatives.
  • Build and maintain a preferred vendor list and category strategies.
  • Manage supplier performance metrics: on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and risk.
Supply Chain Operations
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory levels, lead times, and inbound logistics.
  • Maintain accurate demand forecasts and procurement plans for hardware builds.
  • Implement lightweight processes for material planning, tracking, and reporting that can scale over time.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks or single-source vulnerabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with engineering to define BOMs, establish part specifications, and forecast component needs.
  • Work with manufacturing and operations teams to support build schedules and ensure material readiness.
  • Coordinate with finance on budgeting, cash-flow implications, and cost forecasts.
Systems & Infrastructure
  • Set up foundational tools (ERP/MRP, purchasing workflows, inventory management).
  • Establish documentation standards for procurement, supplier onboarding, and quality tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the supply chain to increase transparency and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4–8+ years of supply chain, procurement, or sourcing experience—preferably in hardware, devices, or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience owning procurement strategies and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of hardware development cycles (prototype → pilot → production).
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment.
  • Analytical mindset with comfort working in spreadsheets, ERP/MRP systems, and BOM tools.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills—internally and externally.
  • Bias toward action; willingness to dive into the details and do the unglamorous work when needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience setting up or optimizing ERP/MRP systems in a startup environment.
  • Familiarity with global logistics, customs, and compliance.
  • Background working with contract manufacturers or hardware suppliers in the U.S. and overseas.
  • Mechanical/electrical engineering familiarity to support technical sourcing discussions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
