As we embark on this journeyjourney to operate the highest-volume optical manufacturing facility in North America, we are seeking a Facilities Director to develop efficient, safe, clean, and high-capacity production environments to support an aggressive production ramp.
As Facilities Director, you will lead the strategic design, rapid implementation, and ongoing management of our facility infrastructure to support high-volume optical manufacturing. You will oversee the specification, procurement, and commissioning of critical systems—power, electrical, network, exhaust, air, and HVAC—ensuring they are built to meet the demands of our cutting-edge production line while maintaining safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
What you'll do
- Lead the design and build-out of facility infrastructure, including power distribution, electrical systems, network infrastructure, exhaust systems, cleanroom air quality, and HVAC, to support high-volume optical manufacturing.
- Manage construction activities, vendor partnerships, and overall project execution to ensure rapid deployment aligned with aggressive production ramp schedules and long-term operational objectives.
- Ensure all facility systems and operations comply with applicable EHS/OSHA standards, fire safety codes, building regulations, insurance requirements, and environmental laws.
- Optimize facility layout and space utilization — including equipment placement, workstations, and access control — to support efficient, large-scale manufacturing.
- Implement data-driven facilities management systems to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and promote sustainability.
- Commission, operate, and maintain critical infrastructure systems, establishing preventative maintenance schedules and monitoring tools to ensure high uptime and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to align facility capabilities with manufacturing equipment needs, such as die-bonding, flip-chip assembly, and automated optical inspection systems.
- Lead root-cause investigations for facility or system downtime, driving corrective actions to minimize disruptions and optimize performance.
- Develop and execute long-term facility expansion strategies, including identification, evaluation, and planning of new leases or acquisitions to support company growth.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or extensive prior experience with exceptional performance.
- 8+ years of experience managing large-scale facilities operations, preferably in high-tech manufacturing, electronics, or optical industries.
- Proven track record of overseeing facility build-outs and infrastructure upgrades for high-volume production environments.
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and executive functions.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cleanroom design and maintenance for optical or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, or IoT for facility monitoring and automation.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC systems.
