About Us:

Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. In today's world of endless apps and tabs, Notion provides one place for teams to get everything done, seamlessly connecting docs, notes, projects, calendar, and email—with AI built in to find answers and automate work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.

In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.

About The Role

We're looking for a Head of Environment and Employee Experience to shape how Notinos (our employees) connect with our mission, customers, and each other. Reporting to our Chief People Officer, you’ll lead the environment and employee experience team and drive the strategy for how we design, activate, and evolve our culture and our offices as places that foster creativity, collaboration, and community and enable our people to do the best work of their careers.

This is a highly strategic leadership role that has the ability to make an outsized impact on Notion’s next stage of growth, as we continue towards our goal of building a generational company. Our people are our most critical asset, and you will design the physical environments and experiences that enable them to ramp effectively when they join, level up their craft, foster a sense of belonging, and collaborate with each other in ways that drive real business outcomes for our customers and community.

This role is a core driver in shaping and building Notion’s culture. You’ll define the end‑to‑end employee experience strategy - from the first day they enter the office all the way to when they graduate to Alumni status. Your team will be the living embodiment of what Life @ Notion feels like on our best day and create the conditions that deepen affinity to Notion and inspires the willingness to go above and beyond.

This role combines workplace experience, real estate strategy, and cultural programming. You'll be responsible for everything from office design and space planning to creating the magical moments that matter to our people. From shaping cross-team rituals, to company-wide events, your work will directly influence how Notinos feel about coming into work, how they connect across teams and geographies, and how our physical and cultural environment reflects our values.

This role is based in San Francisco with an expectation of 4 days per week in-office.

What you'll do

  • Own the office experience strategy

    ◦ Define and evolve a clear vision for how our offices support collaboration, focus, and connection across hybrid and in-office teams.

    ◦ Design spaces and programs that reflect Notion's culture and make our offices destinations people want to be in, not obligations.

  • Lead real estate strategy and logistics

    ◦ Partner with leadership and Finance to develop and execute real estate expansion strategy as the company scales.

    ◦ Oversee lease negotiations, space planning, office operations, and logistics to ensure our physical environments are functional, inspiring, and aligned with how teams actually work.

  • Drive Notino engagement initiatives

    ◦ Design and run always on engagement initiatives. Synthesize insights and translate findings into actionable programs that strengthen connection and belonging.

    ◦ Build and scale cultural rituals, cross-team collaboration programs, and moments that matter, which bring people together around shared mission, values, and goals.

  • Lead company-level events and experiences

    ◦ Own the strategy and execution of company offsites, and other high-impact cultural moments that strengthen community and alignment.

    ◦ Create scalable event frameworks that work across a globally dispersed, hybrid organization.

  • Lead and develop the environment and engagement team

    ◦ Manage, mentor, and grow a team responsible for workplace experience, space design, engagement programming, and real estate operations.

    ◦ Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and build a team culture that is creative, resourceful, and deeply attuned to employee needs.

  • Collaborate across People, Real Estate, and Operations

    ◦ Partner closely with the broader People team, Facilities, IT, Finance, and leadership to ensure our workplace strategy is integrated, sustainable, and supports business goals.

    ◦ Influence cross-functional stakeholders and build alignment on how we invest in and activate our physical and cultural environment.

  • Establish metrics and continuously improve

    ◦ Define success metrics for workplace experience, engagement, and space utilization, and use data to refine programs over time.

    ◦ Stay current on workplace trends, employee needs, and best practices from other high-growth companies.

Skills you'll need to bring

  • 12+ years of experience in workplace, environment, and/or employee experience roles, with a track record of building and scaling programs that make a measurable impact.

  • Experience leading globally dispersed teams, as well as designing always on engagement activities and owning strategy in a high-growth tech company environment.

  • Comfort navigating the complexities of in-office, hybrid employee experiences

  • Strong background in real estate portfolio management and expansion strategy, including space planning, lease negotiations, and scaling office footprints.

  • Proven ability to design and execute company-level events such as offsites and cultural moments, including management of Affinity Groups, that strengthen connection and alignment.

  • Ability to set clear vision, prioritize work, and develop talent in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

  • Comfortable setting long-term strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to solve immediate challenges - at Notion everyone has IC energy!

  • Experience designing and analyzing workplace data to inform decision-making that meaningfully shapes the employee experience

  • Comfort translating qualitative feedback and quantitative insights into clear action plans.

Nice-to-have skills

  • Experience at a product-led or design-forward tech company.

  • Background in community building, hospitality, or experience design.

  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and inclusive design principles for workplace environments.

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and complex event logistics across multiple locations.

  • Genuine curiosity for how AI can be leveraged to scale thoughtful systems that remove the busywork and free up time to focus on your life’s work

Why you'll love working here

  • Meaningful impact: You'll shape the environments and experiences that define what it means to work at Notion, influencing how hundreds of Notinos connect with our mission, customers, and each other.

  • High-visibility role: As Head of Environment and Employee Experience, your work will be felt across the company and have a direct line to leadership and culture.

  • Collaborative, thoughtful team: You'll work alongside a People team that cares deeply about craft, employee experience, and building a culture where everyone can do their best work.

  • Support for balance and wellbeing: Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits, including health coverage, flexible time off, and support for hybrid work.

  • Room to grow: You'll have the opportunity to build not just programs, but the systems, team, and long-term strategy that will scale with Notion.
