Payer Strategy & Operations Director
Nourish
About Us
About the Role
As Payer Strategy & Operations Director, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and executing Nourish’s go to market strategy with health plans. You’ll lead high-impact initiatives across pricing, reimbursement, demonstrating ROI, clinical outcomes, and launching strategic pilots—working closely with Nourish leadership and senior leaders at the country’s largest payers. Your work will be instrumental in creating long-term revenue opportunities for Nourish across existing and new products, and will shape the future of how payers invest in nutrition.
This is a highly cross-functional role that sits at the center of strategy, analytics, and partnerships. You’ll manage a high-performing team, define the payer team’s vision and roadmap, and serve as the commercial voice in shaping the company’s most important strategic priorities. This person will report into our Head of Payer Strategy and work closely with our broader go to market and operations teams.
This role is full-time and open to NYC-based candidates only (expectation to work in-person 3-4 days per week, with some remote flexibility). Our office is in the heart of Union Square.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end payer strategy & operations, including defining the payer strategy & roadmap, establishing and reporting on KPIs, and owning all strategy and operations work to support our commercial payer goals
- Own and strengthen commercial value proposition, managing our B2B external positioning and pitch and running against initiatives to deliver critical proof points such as ROI and clinical outcomes reporting
- Launch and scale strategic payer pilots, partnering cross-functionally with plan and internal stakeholders to design, launch, and measure impact of initiatives to demonstrate our value on clinical and cost savings goals
- Define and lead execution against our pricing strategy, new contract pricing and renegotiation, value-based care models, and defining how we commercialize new products
- Be an excellent people manager and grow a high-performing team, with a focus on leading hiring, developing talent, streamlining operations, and scaling the payer strategy function
- Act as the payer ‘product manager’ — work with our Engineering, Product, and Design team to scope, develop, and launch critical technology to support our commercial goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams at Nourish (e.g., RCM, Clinical Operations, Business Operations, Strategic Finance, Partnerships, GTM Growth, etc.)
You’ll love this role if:
- You have 6–10 years of experience, with a mix of strategy work (e.g., management consulting, finance, business operations) and direct start-up experience
- You’ve led teams before and are excellent at people management & driving teams to high performance.
- You’re results-driven and metrics-oriented, and not afraid of ambitious targets.
- You have a sales-mindset and understand what drives commercial success. You’re a strong communicator and storyteller, and adept at setting and then selling a value prop/vision
- You are a first-principles thinker. You enjoy revamping processes/tech and identifying areas for improvement. You don’t take something for given just because it’s been done that way historically — you identify the best way to do it now and move to actualize it.
- You are operationally excellent, able to manage a robust hiring/onboarding funnel and large volume of moving pieces seamlessly, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- You’re extremely comfortable working cross-functionally, including getting support for your own initiatives and supporting other teams’ key initiatives.
- You have strong data analysis & quantitative skills. You are able to clean, cut, and analyze data efficiently & without errors, including structuring analysis & pulling out key insights.
- You enjoy new challenges and ambiguous situations and jump in headfirst when facing an issue. You are able to adapt to the situation at hand and innovative/creative in your problem-solving.
- You live in NYC or are willing to move or commute in to NYC.
