About the Team
The People Programs team at OpenAI plays a pivotal role in creating an environment where every employee can thrive, grow, and contribute to our mission of ensuring that AGI benefits all of humanity. This expanding team develops and executes human-first strategies and programs that support our rapid growth, unique culture, and innovative spirit.
Our Coaching, Learning & Development team manages programs ranging from new employee onboarding, manager development, and learning systems used across OpenAI.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Learning & Development Enablement Program Manager to build the systems, tools, and processes that power learning at OpenAI. This role focuses on enablement—designing the infrastructure and mechanisms that allow L&D programs to scale effectively across the company. You’ll help ensure our learning experiences are not only impactful but also repeatable, measurable, and sustainable.
You’ll be a strong individual contributor who partners across the People team and business functions to make learning accessible, efficient, and engaging. You’ll architect scalable workflows, operationalize learning systems like our LMS (Sana), and create toolkits that empower others to deliver development programs with excellence. This role reports to the Head of Learning & Development and collaborates closely with L&D peers focused on onboarding, manager development, and career growth.
Your Responsibilities
L&D Systems & Infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain the core enablement infrastructure that supports OpenAI’s learning programs, including our learning management system (Sana).
Toolkits & Playbooks: Develop templates, resources, and operational processes that enable consistent delivery and measurement of learning programs across teams.
Program Enablement: Partner with other L&D team members to build scalable systems for onboarding, manager development, and team interventions—ensuring they run efficiently and can be replicated across orgs.
Data & Insights: Build reporting and feedback loops to measure program reach, engagement, and impact; use data to drive improvements and inform strategy.
Stakeholder Enablement: Empower People partners, facilitators, and business leaders with the right tools and training to deliver learning experiences confidently and consistently.
Operational Excellence: Manage the day-to-day hygiene and optimization of learning operations—permissions, dashboards, content governance, and internal support triage.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with People Ops, HRBPs, and business leaders to understand needs, streamline learning requests, and improve employee access to development opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
7+ years of experience in learning operations, enablement, or program management in fast-paced environments.
Proven ability to design scalable learning systems and processes across global organizations.
Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.
Experience managing LMS platforms (ideally Sana or similar) and building automated or data-informed workflows.
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate metrics into actionable insights.
Comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on execution—no task is too small when it comes to improving how people learn.
A collaborative spirit and a passion for building a learning culture that supports growth and inclusion.
Workplace & Location
This role is based in our San Francisco office and we aren’t considering remote applications at this time. We offer relocation support to new employees, and we use a hybrid work model: three days in the office per week with optional work from home on Thursdays and Fridays.
Our open-plan offices have height-adjustable desks, conference rooms, phone booths, well-stocked kitchens full of snacks and drinks, three in-house prepared meals daily, a private outdoor space for working in the sun or socializing, nap rooms, private bike storage, and more.
