Business Development Manager
Savvy
About Savvy:
Wealth management is a massive industry in the US ($545 billion annual revenue), but remains archaic and inefficient with low technology penetration. 75% of financial advisors do not offer any digital communication beyond emails and 62% of them conduct financial planning manually (for example, in Excel), resulting in a poor client experience and over 70% of a financial advisor’s time spent on non-client facing tasks.
Savvy is a digital-first platform for financial advisors centered around modernizing human financial advice. Financial advisors who partner with Savvy leverage the integrated technology platform to help supercharge growth with AI-powered software, sales and marketing automation, and back office workflows. Savvy’s proprietary technology empowers financial advisors to help scale revenue faster and spend more time focused on growth.
We are a team of former founders and operators who have started and sold two companies and have helped build iconic companies including Airbnb, Square, Carta, Facebook, and more.
We’ve raised $34M from top-tier VC firms, including Canvas Ventures, Thrive Capital, Index Ventures, Brewer Lane Ventures, The House Fund, and a panel of A-list founders & executives from the technology & wealth management industry.
Savvy is at a pivotal point in its growth trajectory, having established strong product-market fit by providing a modern platform to financial advisors. We’ve grown 700%+ in the last 12 months and are entering the next phase of the company, which involves rapid expansion of our product offering and revenue growth.
The Role:
As our first Direct-to-Consumer Business Development Manager, you’ll lead the front line of our client acquisition efforts. This is not your typical SaaS or B2B sales role — you’ll be engaging directly with individuals and families seeking personalized financial guidance. You’ll play a critical role in identifying client needs, qualifying interest, and connecting prospects with our team of advisors.
This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a modern, scalable business development function within a high-growth, advisor-led wealth platform.
You’ll work across both inbound and outbound channels, driving growth by qualifying leads who’ve expressed interest and by creatively sourcing your own pipeline. You’ll collaborate with marketing and advisor teams to refine messaging, outreach strategy, and build our broader acquisition playbook. As the first hire in this function, this is a rare opportunity to help shape how Savvy builds direct relationships at scale.
Responsibilities:
Be the first point of contact for 150+ inbound prospects per quarter, providing white-glove, consultative engagement.
Proactively source and qualify outbound leads through Apollo, cold email, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and other tools.
Execute outreach campaigns to individuals who may benefit from wealth management services.
Guide individuals through their early decision journey, communicating the value of comprehensive planning and Savvy’s advisors.
Collaborate with marketing to test and refine outbound messaging, optimize lead quality, and close feedback loops.
Support A/B testing for cold email sequences, drip campaigns, and call scripts.
Track activities and results in our CRM (e.g., HubSpot).
Help shape the go-to-market motion and playbook for future business development hires.
Qualifications:
Must have:
5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client engagement roles — ideally in fintech, wealthtech, or tech-enabled financial services.
Proven success with cold outreach, lead qualification, and sales conversion, ideally in a direct-to-consumer context.
Confident communicator with the ability to build rapport and trust with high-net-worth individuals and families.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to build a function from the ground up.
Highly organized, data-driven, and comfortable working toward clear activity and conversion goals.
Passion for personal finance, wealth management, or digital transformation in financial services.
We are in office 3 days a week, Tuesday-Thursday, in our NYC office in the heart of Manhattan.
