PRODUCTION CONTROL SPECIALIST (STARLINK/AKOUSTIS)
Akoustis is now operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX providing industry leading RF filters using patented XBAW technology to help drive the mission of making human life multi-planetary, while also connecting the world through Starlink. Our work helps further the impact that Starlink is already making on millions of users around the world, while allowing us to broaden that reach dramatically and continue connecting the unconnected here on earth.
As an Akoustis Production Control Specialist, you will take individual ownership or a supporting role in ownership of planning and managing work flow through the RF filter manufacturing facility in Canandaigua, NY, where we continually strive for the highest levels of quality with a focus on cost controls, cycle time, and production throughput. The job requires you to work independently but involves frequent interaction with Akoustis Engineers and Operations in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you are challenged with sustaining multiple processes while expediting material through the fab in a high-mix environment supporting new product introductions to the production line and managing the MES and D365 systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan NPI and Production lot starts
- Create routes and recipes in MES system and manage FE D365 inputs
- Enter data collection for SPC within MES system
- Manage SPC and SL wafers
- Manage shipping wafers for the fab to OSAT’s
- Coordinate shipping requirements with program managers
- Manage wafer inventory within MES and outsource suppliers
- Train personnel on the MES system
- Manage user access to qualified tools within MES system
- Closely track high priority lots to reduce cycle time
- Review lot holds and work with management team to release holds to help improve cycle time
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and demonstrate the ability to train Production Operators and Technicians on SOPs
- Support new product introductions and sustain existing products and processes
- Identify, contain, troubleshoot, and partition quality problems associated with the area’s toolset
- Participate in cross functional teams
- Document results and present results to technical staff
- Collaborate with quality and suppliers on quality issues
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or higher in computer science, information science, business, project management, operations management, supply chain management, logistics, or an engineering discipline AND 1+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following in lieu of a degree:
- Material or production planning
- Production scheduling
- Technical writing
- Operations
- Supply chain management
- Engineering
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 4+ years of experience working a production planner in the manufacturing industry
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and JMP statistical software
- Solid understanding of SPC, DOE, and 8D problem solving
- Experience handling silicon wafers
- Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments involving frequent product changeovers
- Experience participating in ISO quality audits
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work in an environment requiring strict adherence to workplace safety rules, where additional PPE is required in certain circumstances

Pay range:
Akoustis Production Technician: $22.00 - $38.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
