About the team

The Globalization Platform team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Stripe products are accessible and user-friendly for customers worldwide. This team is responsible for creating and maintaining the infrastructure required to localize our products and services across various languages and cultures. By joining this team, you will contribute to providing a seamless experience for users across the globe and help expand Stripe’s global impact.

Please be aware that this role currently requires you to come to the Barcelona office once a week. In the near future, the work model will shift to a hybrid arrangement, with a 50% remote and 50% in-office presence in Barcelona, Spain.

What you’ll do

You will design, implement and maintain the platform for software internationalization at scale to drive widespread adoption among the engineering teams. The primary objective of this platform is to bring forth substantial enhancements in the quality, speed, and cost-efficiency of localization processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build a comprehensive globalization infrastructure capable of supporting diverse clients, including services, UIs, and written communications. Ensure deep integration with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous localization.
  • Enable seamless integration with external providers, such as translation management services, to streamline localization workflows.
  • Implement quality assurance mechanisms and robust processes to deliver an exceptional user experience, including regular assessments of platform efficiency.
  • Explore cutting-edge technologies, like AI/ML-based translations, to optimize localization turn-around time and cost-effectiveness.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from the existing infrastructure to the new platform, minimizing disruptions and maintaining operational continuity.

Who you are

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in backend services, tooling and infrastructure. As a member of our new generation globalization platform, we expect you to bring extensive experience that will serve as a solid foundation for our team. Additionally, we want individuals with a strong product sense and emphasis on product quality, especially as this team will be responsible for defining what a great localized, native experience is for our users and maintaining a high bar.

Minimum requirements

  • Have 3+ years of backend engineering experience building services using programming languages such as Ruby, Java, or Go.
  • Proven experience in developing infrastructure solutions.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration with external vendors.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in implementing solutions for localization in a global software environment.
  • Proficiency in either Ruby or Java.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €61,600 - €92,400. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
